What would it take for the JWs to spell "Jehovah's Witness" correctly on Facebook?!?
by Kudra ini mean, come on.. it's a damn religion that you would die for.. you call yourself a "minister".. and i bet you believe that you could debate like, a harvard-educated theologian under the table or something.... .
so, jwn-ers, how many "jehova witness", "jehova witneses", or "jehovas' witness"es are you friends with on fb?.
any other unique spellings i missed?.

I implore you to forgive my spelling of English, as I am not so premium with it.
Your humble slave to spell check.

Blondies series deconstructing current WT study articles
by Glander inno matter where you are in the jw realm, this is a must read.
it is the up to the minute status of the always evolving wt society teachings..

I like reading it too.
It sometimes explaines why my family is feeling a certain way or if they have a different attitude that week.
Also, reading her comments helped me see the heavy use of the Old Testament and how very little attention is payed to Jesus.
Thank you Blondie for doing this for all of us for so many years.

The (deafening) Sound of Silence
by Terry inhere are a few tips from a casino expert about slot machines:.
if someone hits a big payout at a machine that you just left, don't think that you "missed" a payout.
you would not have gotten that payout if you had been playing because you wouldn't have pulled the slot machine at the exact fraction of a second that the other person did.. .

Has anyone, other than me, tried to get your friends/loved ones to prove 1919?
by garyneal inhas anyone, other than me, tried to get your friends/loved ones to prove 1919?.
did they really try to prove it to you or did they write you off as hopelessly lost or somewhere in between?
as some of you are aware, i have been trying to get my wife to prove it to me, and if not her, another believing jehovahs witness.

I tried asking , then explaining, my views on 1914/607 with my father . His responce was, "You have to look at the Big Picture."
I asked what he meant be that, he wouldn't answer and wanted to just drop the subject. He wasn't annoyed with the question, or didn't make me feel bad for asking or use the A. word.
My impression still is, that he was already aware, and this is what he tells himself.
This was about ten years ago, I often wonder what he has thought about all the different generation changes since that conversation.

Hello Ballistic
Congratulations on the 10 year mark . It sure can bring out our reflective side.
I remember meeting you at the southern californian fest. I doubt you remember the shy, nerdy woman, that didnt get to many words out.. LOL .. But, I thought you were a shy or maybe quite sort. What year was that ? it seems like a life time ago. I do remember the Karaoke and the one man that sang so well. I forget the song. A mowtown one I think.
Didnt you tour the US, starting out on the east coast and ending up in L.A. ? What an adventure.
Your's and Broken Promise's reflections on life and the changes here, are interesting.
It's nice seeing you here and I love that can of wup-ass.
Take care of yourself,
eva

Being A Jehovah's Witness is Simply A Waste Of Time!!!
by minimus ini hope that if any witness sees this thread, they understand that being a witness = being a time waster.. please understand this.
if you don't believe me, i'm sure others here will agree.. if you can salvage any of your time that is left, do it!
get out of this false religion.

Alot of time wasted , that's for sure.
I remember when I was moving , at that time they gave you your cards to bring to your next hall. I looked at them sadly. Noticing my Baptism date , all the hours I put in pre 1975, when I should have been attending middle school. All the hours I put in while having a small flock of kids and how hard that was, but it was never good enough according to the service elder.
It's so nice to be off that treadmill..YAH...But for some silly reason my mind still thinks as a kid, and Tuesday and Thursdays are still the bad days of the week. Even after over a decade of not attending meetings.
[on a super cool side note. I tore up those cards that night. I dont exist on paper in the Wathctower World]

JW directives you thought were downright stupid
by fallen_princess ini remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.
i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.
of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.

My earlist introduction to 'Life in Hel'l was over earpieceing.
I wanted them done so bad, my best friend, since age five, had them and so did all her younger sister. Her Mom would do them herself with a needle threaded with dental floss. Her Mom was a strong woman and wouldnt think of asking anyone for permission, plus it was in her culture.
Well, I wanted earrings , like my most favorite friend had , wanted them so bad. Even glued beads to my ears with Elmer's glue. About age 7 or 8 my mom gave in for some reason. My nonjw Grandmother and her Sisters were to pick me up and take me to lunch and have my ears done at a jewelers. Ears fist, cause I was so excited. A big event indeed. When we all met up to leave, my mom informed me and everyone else, that it was a mutilation and God said NO peierced ears. I creid like a baby. My Family was angry at my mom.
Flash forward to early 70's , Im almost a teen, and us girls hear there is a letter from God, I mean the Society, saying it's now OK to pierce ears. My best friend was going to do the home version, ya, needle and dental floss. Well turns out there was no such letter.
Flash forward 2 more years, a real letter from New YOrk Bethel was floating around all dog earred from use, and I had it in my hands. Low and behold, God now said it was OK, cause some ladies in the old testament and Slaves were intstuclted to have there ears or nose pierced.
So off to the Jeweler.. Yippie ..
Eventually my friend did do my ears, well one, as we callled it our 'Gypsy Ear'. But she showed me how, and I ended up piercing the heack out of my ears. Yes, I showed them, LOL. I have since removed them, ya just look silly at my age with too many piercings.

Looks like a good summer read CoCo.
Mr. Hayes has led unique and adventurous life, which I imagine, will add extra depth to this story.
I must say, I sure hope I am still creating at 84 years young. He is an inspiration.
Congratulations to Mr. Hayes.

There's alot you can eat minus the meat and dairy. It is a fun challange and you have some great sugestions already Watersprout.
If you freeze frim tofu it gets even firmer. I like to marinade it with some light tamari, grated ginger and garlic. Then coat the slices in seasame seeds, grill it hot like Talesin said, for a yummy sandwich. Or stuff it in a pocket bread with sweet marinated onions, cucumber, tomatoes and lots of tzatziki sause. Tzatziki sause is so good I will use it for a dip with anything even my finger...lol
Pesto goes good on everything , even a baked potatoe. You can make a pesto from cilantro too, Alot of people in my area are using cilantro for medicinal purposes.
Alot of Mediteranian area [Italy , Greece, etc.] dishes use no meat or dairy. INdian food too. ( yumm, dolmas, olives, wine. I hope wine is still on your talble ;-)
If you can learn to make your own Dahl seasonings minus the ghee, try using mung or azuki beans instead of lentils. That and brown rice is very healthy.
PLantanos con crema, minus the cream, ie platinos and yummy black beans. with a nice salald , use lemons instead of vinigers for a chamge.
Have fun
